Overview
This course aims to develop basic
reading skills and expands their mental lexicon and linguistic structures.
Students can read and understand simple sentences and structures. They will be
able to identify the meanings of the parts of speech, punctuation, types of
words, functional or content. He will also be able to identify the meaning of
affixes through exercises and drills.
Intended learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student must be able to:
- Read examples of different types of readings, including articles,
short stories, fact sheets, timetables, instructions, directions,
requests, descriptions and conversations.
- Read for gist and detailed information.
- Reading and making inferences, recognise and identify information.
- Improve their understanding of new
vocabulary related to reading and develop critical thinking skills.
Teaching and learning methods
The course will be presented to the student
through lectures, panel discussions, or assignments and exercises, discussion
and dialogue

Methods
of evaluating students in this course:
(class work 40% & final 60%)
Class
work is divided into written midterm, assignments and tasks.
Final
exam is in a form of written exam.
