Overview

This introductory course allows students to learn about translation theory and practice for the first time. It also provides students with basic ideas about the translation process, the vocabulary used, and contemporary theories put forward by researchers and scholars in this field.

Intended learning outcomes

The general objectives of the course are written in the form of the outcomes that the student is supposed to acquire after successfully completing the course.

The course aims to:

1. Introducing students to the theoretical framework that governs the study of translation and the various processes involved in it.

2. It allows students to obtain the proper practice needed in translating various texts from Arabic. During the various workshops offered in this session.

The methods and ways used in teaching the course must be specified, such as: lectures / field visits / laboratory activities / information gathering / case studies and discussion panels … etc.

Methods of evaluating students in this course:

(class work 40% & final 60%)

The types of evaluation used in the course teaching and learning process should be explained in detail to ensure that they achieve the learning outcomes. This includes the type of exams (written and oral exams, reports, discussions, scientific activities, etc.), the time specified for each assessment, the weight of the assessment, and the ratio of the assigned score to the total score.
