Overview

The course is about improving the grammatical accuracy of the students and helps them produce correct sentences. It acquaints students with different types of tenses, and enables them to differentiate between those types of tenses and generate sentences accordingly.

Intended learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student must be able to:

1. Develop their knowledge of the English language rules and its basic structures;

2. Express themselves in English using the rules they have studied without making mistakes;

3. Interpret the comparisons between the simple present vs. present progressive, simple past vs. past progressive, simple past vs. present perfect and past perfect in sentences;

4. Display the use of tenses (present, past and future) correctly in their different forms; interrogative, negative and affirmative statements.

5. Use time clauses in the future tense in a correct way.

6. Use the passive voice of the English tenses in the right form.

7. Use the order of the adjectives correctly.

Teaching and learning methods

The course will be presented to the student through lectures, panel discussions, or assignments and exercises, discussion and dialogue

Methods of assessments

Methods of evaluating students in this course:

(class work 40% & final 60%)

Class work is divided into written midterm, assignments and tasks.

Final exam is in a form of written exam.
