Overview

Summarized course:

This course is designed to present general knowledge of the different parts of speech. It provides students with understanding and using of the basic tenses / verbs (simple present, simple past, present progressive, past progressive), nouns (count & non-count), articles, quantifiers, pronouns (subject, object, possessive, reflexive, reciprocal), demonstratives, adjectives, possessives, comparatives and adverbs

Intended learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student must be able to:

1. Develop their knowledge of the English language and its basic structures;

2. Express themselves in English using the rules they have studied without making mistakes;

3. Interpret the comparisons between the present simple vs. present continuous, past simple vs. past continuous, past simple vs. present perfect & present perfect continuous, and past perfect vs. past perfect continuous in sentences;

4. 4. Use tenses (present, past and future) correctly in their different forms; interrogative, negative and affirmative statements.

5. Use time clauses in the future tense. Pieces of theoretical information are recalled and accumulated to solve a realistic linguistic problem.

Teaching and learning methods

The course will be presented to the student through lectures, panel discussions, or assignments and exercises, discussion and dialogue

Methods of assessments

Methods of evaluating students in this course:

(class work 40% & final 60%)

Class work is divided into written midterm, assignments and tasks.

Final exam is in a form of written exam.
