Overview
Students are introduced to syllables,
word stress and sentence stress. The course also concentrates on showing
students different sounds of consonant clusters, discussions of different aspects of connected speech and
the different types of intonation. Practice exercises on pronunciation and
transcription of sentences and paragraphs are also found in this course.
Intended learning outcomes
At
the end of the course, the student must be able to:
1. Identify the principles of word syllables.
2.
Know how to stress simple and complex words (strong or weak).
Identify the intonation and how to
use its different types in sentences .3
4.
Pronounce using the skills they learned in Phonetics 1 combined with the new
skills learned in this semester..
5. Provide
training exercises in identifying syllables, using stress in words and
