Overview

This course shows how young learners learn English. It also teaches students how to teach pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar to young learners. It also provides students with basic classroom suggestions for teaching the basic skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Then students are introduced to teaching young learners through storytelling, songs and games.

Intended learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student must be able to:

1. Teach different English language skills at the primary level.

2. Use modern methods and strategies in teaching different English language skills with the help of modern technology.

3. Appreciate the importance of the role of technology and modern techniques in acquiring and developing linguistic skills and concepts and facilitating their learning.

4. Prepare various tools to evaluate their students' performance in different language skills

5. Evaluate his/her teaching performance, learn about his/her strengths and weaknesses, and methods of developing himself/herself professionally in the future.

Teaching and learning methods

The course will be presented to the student through lectures, panel discussions, or assignments and exercises, discussion , dialogue and through Useful learning–teaching strategies include:

Methods of assessments

Methods of evaluating students in this course:

(class work 40% & final 60%)

Class work is divided into written midterm, assignments and tasks.

Final exam is in a form of written exam.
