Overview

This course aims to teach students certain writing techniques required for writing. It is divided into different topics including writing paragraphs and letters. Writing topic sentences, brainstorming, gathering ideas, organizing, drafting, revising and editing skills will be exercised.

Intended learning outcomes

At the end of the course students are expected to have learned

Types of sentences: simple sentence, compound sentence, complex sentence

Connectors: time, addition,, consequence

Types of paragraph: opinion paragraph, descriptive paragraph , compare and contrast

Paragraph elements: topic sentence, supporting sentences, conclusion

Gathering ideas, brainstorming , proofreading, editing

Teaching and learning methods

Lectures, explanation and giving examples in the classroom

Methods of assessments

Students will be assessed through a mid-term 40 marks and a final exam 60 marks
