Overview

In most academic courses, students are asked and instructed to write research papers. Such exercise is meant to subject students to genuine learning situations. This exercise will enable them to illustrate understanding and to show their knowledge and skills in writing, structuring and organizing ideas in the form of research. This course is meant to provide students with research and bibliographical skills specific to the discipline of translation studies. The course covers both theoretical and practical issues related to research methods in translation studies

Intended learning outcomes

Teaching and learning methods

Teaching this course depends on the following methods:

  • lectures
  • presentation
  • Information gathering ''assignment''
  • Panel discussions, a case study .etc.

Methods of assessments

For mid-term assessment, students undertake exercise in data collection and bibliography work. But for final exam, they will be guided to write a research proposal of 1500 words. The proposal can be the basis for their graduation project. Every student will give an oral presentation of his proposal in the final session of the course in order to receive feedback.
