Overview

Comparative Linguistics, in general, studies the relationship or correspondences between two or more languages at any level, sound, word, phrase, clause, or sentence level. The course of this semester includes a number of sentence structures in E & A. They are presented in a comparative way with the aim of highlighting the similarities and differences between them.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of week 12, students will be able to:

- Describe the different structures they have studied in both languages: E & A.

- To compare the structures in A & E identifying the similarities and differences between them.

- Recognize such different structures that may cause problems in translation and find solutions for them.

Teaching and learning methods

The interactive teaching method is used as the instructor is deliberately encouraging the students to interact by posing a number of questions, and asking them to support their answers with examples.

Feedback is always given to the students to be aware of the accuracy of their learning.

After engaging the students in the subject by posing a number of questions to trigger their thinking and do a kind of brainstorming, the instructor begins explaining the lesson by adopting the expository method of teaching.
