Overview

This course aims to introduce the students the difference between journalistic translation and translation in general, the focus in this course is on using the appropriate strategy of translating journalistic texts from English to Arabic and vice-versa. This course also aims to develop building vocabularies that help students improve their translational skills. This course deals with different texts including political, economical, social and sports texts.

Intended learning outcomes

The students will be able to:

· obtain the skills needed when translating journalistic texts.

· improve the knowledge through building new vocabulary.

· understand the mechanism of translating journalistic texts.

· use modern techniques of translating journalistic texts.

Teaching and learning methods

Explanation and discussion in the lecture. This course focuses on training by setting training workshops, in which students exchange their views and feedback regarding their translations of journalistic texts.

Methods of assessments

First evaluation is a written exam 40% Second evaluation is a written exam 60%
