Overview

This course introduces the student to the tolerance of Islamic legislation in the penal system, and an explanation of the difference between it and man-made legislation, and clarification of the ruling and interests for which those penalties were legislated, through the study of some crimes and the penalties prescribed for them.

Intended learning outcomes

1. Understanding the meaning of Limits, which are legal punishments estimated in Islamic law.

2. Distinguishing legal limits and knowing the difference between them by studying every crime that requires a limit in Islamic law.

3. Statement of the purposes of Islamic law regarding the legality of Borders.

4. Distinguishing the difference between positive human legislation and heavenly legislation.

5. Realizing the virtues of Islamic law through its tolerant legislations that are valid for all times and places.

6. Realizing the importance of applying the legal limits determined in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of his Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and that they are the guarantee of reforming and correcting the conditions of people at all times and places.

Teaching and learning methods

The course will be presented to the student through lectures, panel discussions, assignments and exercises, and discussion and dialogue.

Methods of assessments

Methods of evaluating students in this course: ( Mid-term 40% and final 60%)

Term-work: divided between written midterm exams.

Written final exam.
