Overview

This course aims to introduce students to Arabic literature in Andalusia learning about the social life, political life and mentality of that era. It also outline how Andalusian literature renewed meanings, methods, words and themes identifying some of the prominent figures of poetry and prose in that era and some poetic and prose texts.

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. identify Arabic literature in Andalusia.

2. describes the social life, political life and mentality in Andalusia.

3. identify innovation in meanings, words and themes.

4. identify the poetic themes developed in the Andalusian era.

explain the characteristics of Andalusian prose.

Teaching and learning methods

The course will be given through lectures, panel discussions, or assignments and exercises.

Methods of assessments

Methods of evaluating students in this course: (semester work 40% and final 60

¾ Semester work: it is divided into written midterm exams and assignments.

¾ Final: written final exam.
