On completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify the stages of development of Arabic writing. 2. differentiate between the two types of hamza and the ways of writing them. 3. distinguish the strongest and the weakest vowel marks known as ‘harakat’. 4. identify the characteristics of the solar and lunar laam. 5. discuss the stages of development of Arabic. 6. understand where to write the hamza correctly during the dictation tests. 7. link between the rule of the strongest vowel mark ‘haraka’ with the way of writing the medial hamza. 8. distinguish between the lunar laam and solar laam and between the taa’marbouta and taa’maftouha in terms of pronunciation and writing. 9. use their knowledge of the stages of development of Arabic writing. 10. write the hamza correctly when they are asked to write texts. 11. use the rule of the strongest vowel mark ‘haraka’ and the ways of writing the medial hamza. 12. Use the rules of the lunar and solar laam and the rules of taa’ marbouta and taa’ maftouha both verbally and in writing. 13. prepare and present effectively the spelling lessons. 14. communicate and practice with colleagues to improve spelling. 15. use computer in teaching proper pronunciation and proper writing. 16. form scientific groups that aim to research and address the issues of Arabic writing. 17. criticize properly and constructively. |
