Overview

In this course, the students get acquainted with the state of the Islamic East before the Crusader invasion, by identifying the political and social situation and its reflection on literary life through poetic and prose topics, while identifying the most important features of this era and getting acquainted with its notables such as Al-Busiri and Al-Muhadhib Bin Al-Zubayr, while studying models poetry and prose in this era

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the student should be able to

1. Be familiar with the political and social influences that affected the poetry of this era through poetry and prose.

2. Determine the connection of politics and social life with literary life.

3. Explain the features of this era.

4. Enumerate examples of poets and writers of this era

5. Define the most prominent features of sermons in the era of successive states and who are the most prominent preachers.

Teaching and learning methods

The course will be presented to the student through lectures, panel discussions, assignments and exercises, and discussion and dialogue

Methods of assessments

Methods of evaluating students in this course: ( Mid-term 40% and final 60%)

Term-work: divided between written midterm exams and assignments.
