Overview

This course identifies concepts of habituation and rehabilitation processes and the difference between them. It addresses the importance of rehabilitation, its types, and the role of rehabilitation specialist in addition to the foundations and principles upon which both the rehabilitation and rehabilitation processes are based. It also highlights the various rehabilitation services provided to the disabled, such as medical, psychological, social, educational, and vocational services, and the basic skills needed to facilitate the transition of the disabled through stages of integration into society with minimum difficulties.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the students will be able to:

1. Be familiar with the concepts of habituation and rehabilitation

2. Recognize the importance and objectives of rehabilitation

3. Enumerate the factors that help rehabilitation programs to succeed, as well as the basic elements in the rehabilitation process

4. Propose and explain a programme that contributes to the rehabilitation of the handicapped

5. Explain the components of an individual plan for disabled persons

6. Identify key skills of successful teachers who are able to rehabilitate people with disabilities

7. Know how to operate rehabilitation programs and help the persons concerned

8. Be familiar with the concept of habituation and rehabilitation

14. Know how to implement rehabilitation programs and help target persons to be able to employ the concept of rehabilitation and in handling people with special needs.

15. Use knowledge of rehabilitation and the objectives of rehabilitation to implement a specific rehabilitation program

16. Apply the factors for the success of rehabilitation programs and the basic elements in rehabilitation

17. Diagnose cases that need vocational and psychological rehabilitation

18. Use the skills learned in educational rehabilitation

19. Design training courses for social and community rehabilitation

20. Practice the skills acquired in medical rehabilitation

21. Acquire verbal communication skills through class participation

22. Use of modern technologies in the presentation of academic material

23. Respect the opinions of others and use effective communication skills

24. Conduct independent and continuous learning

25. The student should be able to communicate orally and in writing
