Overview

This course identifies the process of verbal and manual communication with hearing impaired persons. It trains students on types of signs, their sources and levels, with practical training on finger spelling of numbers, the Arabic alphabet, and places of articulation. The students learn about existing efforts to compile a unified Arabic indicative dictionary for the deaf.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the students will be able to:

1. Be familiar with the sign language and its background and justification

2. Distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of using sign language

3. Explain the symbols and directions of sign language

4. Mention the alphabet of sign language

5. Explain how to interact using sign language

6. Discuss the translation of spoken language using the alphabet of fingers

7. Link between finger language and sign language his interacting with class

8. Conclude the relationship between sign language in the Arabic dictionary and the local sign language

9. Master the concepts of sign language and the finger alphabet

10. Employ sign language in professional life to communicate with people with special needs

11. Perform mathematical operations successfully

12. Apply and evaluate sign language in several fields, e.g. religion, politics, economics, geography and health

13. Ability to communicate with people who use hearing aids

14. Transfer knowledge and skills to learners who use sign language

15. Use the language of macro communication
