Overview

The course aims to introduce the students to the concept of social psychology, its origin and development, and to enable them to understand and define the concept of socialization and the institutions of socialization. The course also aims to develop students’ skills in using theory in interpreting the social behavior of individuals, and to develop their abilities to identify types and roles of social relations, social roles, and social centers.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the students will be able to:

1. Identify with social psychology, its definition and development

2. Distinguish the relationship of social psychology with other sciences and its importance in different aspects of life

3. Explain the definition of the community, its characteristics, types and structure

4. Define the types of social relations, social roles, and social positions

5. Mention the concept of socialization and the institutions of socialization

6. Determine normal and abnormal socialization methods

7. Explain the definition of social psychology and its development

8. Analyze the relationship between social psychology and other sciences in different areas of life

9. Infer the definition of community, its characteristics, types and structure

10. Discover the types of social relations, social roles and social positions

11. Link the concept of socialization and the institutions of socialization

12. Show normal and abnormal socialization methods, trends and values

13. Explains the role of theory in explaining the social behavior of the individual

14. Employ the definition of social psychology

15. Apply social psychology in other sciences and in different fields of life

16. Infer the definition of community, its characteristics, types and structure

17. Employ types of social relations, social roles and social positions

18. Implement the concept of socialization in socialization institutions

19. Design models of normal and abnormal socialization, attitudes and values

20. Use theory in explaining social behavior of individuals

21. Cooperate in small groups to discuss topics of interest.

22. Use the library to search for books on topics related to course requirements.

23. Respect opinions of colleagues when exchanging ideas and terminology related to the course
