Overview

The course introduces the students to the concept of sociology in general and educational sociology in particular. It highlights the reality of sociology in the educational process and its role within educational institutions, especially those targeting special needs groups. The course relates concepts of educational sociology with theories addressing educational personality.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the students will be able to:

1. Explain the concept of educational sociology and its significance for education

2. Formulate key concepts in educational sociology and the ability to apply them in educational.

3. Compare concepts and their use in educational sociology and educational psychology

4. Be acquainted with social relationships across individuals and groups in the family, public and institutions, as well as the characteristics and dynamics of each.

5. Determine the relationship of educational sociology with other sciences and modern theories of educational sociology

6. Distinguish concept, stages, factors and institutions of social normalization

7. Explain concepts of social change, types, manifestations, obstacles, and their association with education

8. Analyze the reality of social relationships through social upbringing within educational institutions

9. Provide realistic examples from within educational institutions in society

10. Interconnect required educational skills from a sociological perspective

11. Show and evaluate the relationship of educational sociology with other sciences

12. Infer and discover modern theories of educational sociology

13. Discuss and analyse concept, stages, factors and institutions of social normalization

14. Explain the theories of social change and its relationship with education

16. Reformulate concepts to facilitate their use in educational
